The Sanctuary of Pietralba - a well-known pilgrimage site This famous place of pilgrimage is set among the woods and meadows of Monte Regolo, in the municipality of Nova Ponente. Legend has it that the Madonna appeared here to a local farmer, Leonardo Weissensteiner, curing him of a deadly disease. She asked him to build a small chapel by way of thanks. The imposing sanctuary now stands on that site.
